What is a CSH share? Also known as a CSA share, it's short for community supported agriculture. Its a way for customers to support their local farmers by purchasing a wider variety of products, at one time, early in the season. Farms spend a large portion of their expenses in spring and have a long turnover rate for many crops. This means for a large part of the season a farmer has little to no income. CSA(H) shares offset that, and allow a farmer some peace of mind.
Why Join? Well, you help us grow our crops for one, but you also get slightly better prices on all the items, and some special treats thrown in for good measure.
How it works at FHF - We separate our items into categories, allowing each shareholder to "build" their own share how they see fit. You can pick and choose items you want to receive, and when you want to pick them up, and we'll grow, prep, and pack them for you and have them ready when you arrive on your pick up dates. Pretty simple. There are some more rules, like shares must add up to a total of at least $250.00 and pick up weeks need to be scattered over the season. Why? Well, to be completely honest, if we don't do these things, the shares don't really do their job, which is to generate early season income and spread spread the expense over the entire season.
